- Why the System Was Built
Why FILIT Was Developed
FILIT was developed by Kelly Oldfield, an Australian early years and education behaviour, wellbeing, and practice systems advisor working across education, early years, and OSHC settings.
It was developed in response to the need for a more structured and connected system to support effective behaviour information collection, clearer pattern identification, timely decision-making, and more informed planning and strategy.
FILIT helps settings turn behaviour information into clearer insight, stronger planning, and more informed decision-making.
- Structured Behaviour
A Structured Behaviour Framework
- The FILIT System operates through a defined structure ensuring behaviour and wellbeing information remains observable, measurable, and aligned.
- Behaviour Tracking → Behaviour Insight → Behaviour Trends → Profiles & Plans → Leadership Oversight
- When structure is clear, behaviour understanding becomes measurable and practice becomes consistent.
- Behaviour Tracking
Behaviour & Wellbeing Tracking
Behavior and Wellbeing Tracking is individualized to the person and the setting they are in
- tracking remains observable
- Behavior & Wellbeing Tracking
- supports accurate interpretation and timely strategy adjustments
Information collected feeds directly into behaviour insight and structured behaviour and wellbeing plans.
- Behaviour Insight
Behaviour Insight
Behaviour insight organises behaviour tracking information into clear summaries that support interpretation and decision-making.
- review of behaviour information across individuals
- visibility of group-level patterns
- wholesetting behaviour understanding
- Behaviour Trends
Weekly Tracking Data
Behaviour trends provide visual pattern visibility across time.
- Behaviour trend graphs
- heat maps highlighting behaviour distribution
- comparative summaries across reporting periods
- progress indicators showing measurable behaviour movement
Supporting Text: Trend visibility supports measurable trend analysis across the setting.
- Wellbeing & Behavior Profiling and Plan
Individualized Profiles Linked to Structured Plans
Individualised behaviour & wellbeing profiles are developed based on the individual. Profiles identify behaviours, influences, and strategies, supporting the development of capacity-building behaviour & wellbeing goals and risk documentation, including escalation profiles. These profiles create behaviour & wellbeing support plans that are clear, easy to read, and support consistent, predictable practice.
- Escalation & Risk
Escalation & Risk Integration
Content: Escalation profiles and risk considerations operate within the same structured environment.
- escalation stages
- response levels
- risk categorisation
- measurable behaviour movement across escalation stages
- Connected System Oversight
Connected System Oversight
All behaviour information remains connected within one system — from behaviour tracking to behaviour insight to behaviour trends to profiles and plans to leadership oversight. Leadership maintains structured visibility across individuals and settings, reducing fragmentation and strengthening organised implementation.
